Beringer Classic Floating Discs

In addition to its premium brake calipers, Beringer also manufactures a range of high performance cast iron floating brake discs. These use a gray cast iron braking surface, a material universally used by high-performance disc manufacturers. However, Beringer developed a chemical composition, casting process and heat treatment to give the discs exceptional performance quality. The specific cast iron structure allows heat dissipation faster than any cast iron or stainless steel disc, while accepting much higher temperatures than any other material. Additionally, the use of this material allows for narrow exterior strips, saving up to 20% weight. The surface of the cast iron outer band is coated with a special aluminum plasma to prevent disc corrosion and allow the use of any sintered metal pad. This very fine-grained surface increases braking power by up to 40% and experiences very little wear to extend service life. Classic discs feature perforated cast iron outer bands with a CNC machined aluminum bracket, which is attached to the outer band with 12 low-friction steel studs. Brackets are available in chrome, polished or black anodized. The discs offer excellent braking with organic or sintered pads.
