The starting system of the 4-speed gearboxes of the 1965-1988 models, with separate starter solenoid, is very far from being reliable, it is even downright rubbish. Plus now, this hand-operated lever is very effective and will always work. This system replaces the starter solenoid. Now all you have to do is pull the lever and it starts. For FL/FX 1965-1984, FXWG and FXST 1980-1988. Starter relay sold separately.
